And... stuff

I hope to blog more regularly.  I hope to entertain.

We have an incredible forum going on at tankclub.prophpbb.com.  <-- check eet!!!

Minymous set it us up the bomb for us....  It is nice.  I've been reading about phpbb and it is some cool stuff.  I am a huge fan of open source and php.

This be your wiki on that thar phpbb aaarrrrrrrrrrrr (dunno why I id pirate just then).

k

And then, this dude sets up prophpbb.com and says, "hey everyone! come make free forums and I'll host them!!!!"  Why are some poeple just so nice?

Did you know, in Shakespeare's day, Elizabethan England time, "nice" meant "retard" or "retarded."  Cuz like, retarded people are clueless and nice, and don't do passive aggression and shit.  This word became "nice" to us today.  We don't call intelligent people "nice" who don't play fuck head games.  We call them, "magnanimous."  So, shing, he's nice....

(I hope I did not offend anyone by that like if you have someone in your family with special needs; if so, sorry, truly)

Time for motorcycle bikinis:

I got off track (snaps fingers "over here!!!")

We got some awesome stuff going on.  I want to thank mailman411 and _Goliard for their continued work in recruiting and events <-- these are essential to clan growth.  And growth is good.  We are growers....

And now to answer that age-old question: what happens when you put panty hose on a dog?

wot-news.com Leader Boards

Edit:  Please pm me your spot on the leaderboards and I'll post it here.

After a couple of weeks of over 300 games and constant updating, _Goliard sent me a pm today saying that wot-news.com finally updated their leaderboards.

(Note, it is an awkward site imo; you have to click the frame beneath the default entitled, "TOP player by Win percent...." to see, and the default/first above frame (above win rate) is entitled, "TOP players by total played games")

I am now the top Panzer I for the NA server!!!

Seal clubbing ftw!

(Note: I was going to put a pic of a baby seal up, but I came across real pictures of seal clubbing -- sorry, Imma liberal.  Cannot....)

0o

I've not posted since 3/4/2013 .. I know, what an incredible revelation!

I've been playing a bit of other vid games lately, mostly DoTA2 and SC2DS.  (Oh, and my battle.net account got hacked -- now fixed; ALWAYS use an authenticator if available).

We've had some departures.  I hate to see anyone go, but I also make an effort to not care.  It used to really bother me, I would be like, "whhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!"

But now, I don't care so much (don't get me wrong, I care, just not as much)....

Clan Wars: it's a hot topic, for those who want to do clan wars.  We will prolly not be doing them any time soon, not on the radar, etc.  I say this lots right?

Winning: don't take it so srsly, and/or, go seal clubbing to supplement losing.  Bottomline: upper tiers=more losses, for anyone.  I am a shameless seal clubber.  I blame shing.

This is a pretty lame update, but just wanted to check in.

Oh and, this clan is represented by you.  Don't let anyone else define what it is.  It is not about stats unless you make it about stats.  It's not about clan wars unless you make it that.

In college, I worked at this retail store.  This guy comes in during a big rush on some sale.  He's like, "why are all these people here?"  Imma smartass and go, "well, you're here...."

^I.e., "no one is on" and "this clan is dead" and "no one will platoon with me" and "these guys suck in this clan they keep losing."  Well, log into the game, get involved/create some clan thing, form a platoon yourself, and for the love of god, stop blaming others for your losses....

If you can find a better clan then go, please, but go nicely.

Oh, and if you just need a break then take a break.  All good....

Love, peace and chicken grease

WoT: Wargaming.net Pro League Coming

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-02-12-professional-world-of-tanks-league-arrives

Tankaholics: attention! A professional gaming league for World of Tanks has been created.

The inaugural 2013 season has a $2.5 million prize pool. That will probably rise for subsequent seasons if everything goes well.

The league will launch during this first 2013 quarter. It's called the Wargaming.net League and it sounds like it's global. There will be regional tournaments, playoffs and grand finals.

Will the eSports community welcome it?

Tank Company Changes

This was almost a month ago, but I just saw it:
http://forum.worldoftanks.com/index.php?/topic/202861-7x42-els-format-coming-to-na/

^basically, tank companies to go away/be entirely reworked.  It mentions WoW "Dungeon Finder" feature which I do have experience with (yes, did play some WoW).

That being the case, you simply enter a queue alone or with others and wait for a "team" to form, then the battle launches I would assume.  Comments anyone? <-- feel free to correct me here on what that post means for WoT (google translate is failing on the source page with "server error" /first-time-seen-that-fail)

Oh, and I saw in 2012 that a console version of WoT was thought about but not soon, but that source link indicates it is now more a coming reality....

I wonder how that'll work out for us PC gamers....

dm & CoAF & clan wars

I almost entitled this post, "State of The Clan," but I hate that subject title "state of the clan" ... how fucking lame that is.  This is a clan update, news, stuff....

Clan Kitteh <-- that's what I think I'll rename the clan to.  Thoughts, comments, suggestions?

This is shing's cat, "Skittles" ... it's shing's idea to rename the clan to his fav buddy!

Stuff:
dualmaster333 is now officially our representative on the "Council of Armed Forces."  Srsly, it is a very cool concept and I think he'll do great there as it plugs him/us into wargamming.net and their direct communications over clan issues/things.

Ok, next up, clan wars (hahahahahahahahhaahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah!!!!!!)

We're still not doing them.  I took a "show of hands" poll recently and a total of 12 people responded.  Toss in "my friend can play" et al., and _maybe_ we got 15.  But, subtract the half dozen, ("I can only play on mondays" and "I can only play on March 2nd of 2052") and we would prolly see ourselves vs a full 15-man clan and, yes, lose.  Do I care if we lose?  No, yes, sorta, but I don't want to set-it-up for def failure.

^this and I'm not even sure it's what we want to do as a clan ["Hrm, I'm reading what fkd is saying here, I'm pretty good.  My stats would get me into a top clan and I would make 150 gold each time I showed for a clan war match, for the required 4 times a week which would equal a couple of hours so, about 8 definite hours a week I'd be required to be there or get kicked-out"] <-- yes, and I want you to know, others have left, nicely, to join "elite clans" and I think they are happy.  If you want to leave to be elite I am all for it.  I think it would rock and I encourage this, I do.

This clan -- this "irrelevant scrub clan" is just taht, cuz we have lives.

Life/gaming ... pussy/gaming ... pussy<gaming?  Srsly?  pussy>gaming <-- I'd hope (keep using these fkd <--- ...ty I will).

Anyhow, that's where we are.  If being in a clan=clan wars to you, then go for it.

"Clan wars requires a lot of dedication" <-- lead dev serg said this

And now, for some deep thoughts from Jessica Alba....

WoT: Stats: Efficiency

If your colors in combat next to your name didn't take a hit (at least, if the numbers didn't change to the lesser) then you are lucky.  I lost my blue standing in xvm and am now a ... *gasp* ... a green!  I went from 1510 to 1440.  Needless to say, I am a stats-zombie like many of us, and this bothered me.

Of course, I read and found wot-news.com basically made flag work mean fuck all -- worth far less.

I've seen guys who had unicum standing go down into the 1700s.  Few have had little change.

My gut and rants about it is it will only encourage people to _not_ out-cap the enemy team and leave flag circle to kill that last, tier 2 arty who's in the battle cuz he platooned with his idiot friend in an E-50.

Anyhow....

I like some things about each stats site.  I like http://wot-dossier.appspot.com cuz it shows both old and new efficiency readings.  Now, here's something odd:

My TDs -- where I have most of my defensive work in, resetting enemy flag caps -- took a huge hit.

I guess they've turned into shit anything to do with the flag.

One former clan member -- who joined an "elite" clan under their charter of: "Must have over 2,000 efficiency" ... well, he did when he left us to go to them.  Now, his is in the 1700s I think.  He lost 200 some-odd points....

The Rules of Tank Club

Consider this the de facto disclaimer for "Tank Club":

Welcome to Tank Club.

This is an OGO ("Online Gaming Organization") that focuses on the video game, "World of Tanks").

^that made me throw-up in my mouth.

This is a clan.  A wot clan.  We believe in:

  • No pressure
  • No obligations
  • No assholes

There.  Read no further.  That was your tl;dr.  It was also prolly your invite message.

More stuff:

  • You do not have to be in this clan <-- duh!
  • You can leave this clan at any time <-- duh!
  • If you leave nicely, maturely, you can prolly come back <-- like you'd want to right?
  • If you want to leave, please, for the love of god, just leave.  Honestly, do you need to rage hard, mild or lightly before hand? Are you _that_ much of a woman (I'm the only woman aruond here gdi!)
  • Yes, I use these <-- these <-- that arrow thing there

At teh very worst, accepting the invite to this clan will mean:

  • a red shitty fist on your tank/td/spg ("wtf is this red shit on my tank" <-- what one mild rager said before quitting")
  • a channel in your WoT tool bar that'll maybe blink at times when new text arises in it

^if either one of those are just too fucking much for you to take and/or, if you want to be in a great clan that requires shit you _must_ do to stay in it, then, I beg you, leave.

You can:

  • leave raging
  • leave silently
  • leave lovingly
  • leave honorably
  • drop a deuce
  • get your blood wings
  • go for a hole in one (that means, shitting, wiping, and no shit on the tissue paper)

In all srsness (yes, rly srs now) if you join, only, ever, idle in clan chat, or go afk forever from game, or w/e, and we finally reach around 100 members, then you will prolly be kicked from the clan.

We r not there yet.

Most you -- any that read this prolly -- are awesome tho, and I love you.  I do.

The rest, srsly, gth (get this hotel).

Recruiting: Reason #923 to not join a clan

I have sent out 1.536 million invites.  Yes, I am on more ignore lists than _anyone_ playing WoT.  Anyhow, most say nothing in response.  Some call me names or say means things.  Some are nice and nicely turn me down.  Some say they will follow-up and are interested.

And then, there are those who give "reasons" why they do not join a clan.  I like this recent explanation:

Let's draw this out in a logic set:

^yup, makes perfect sense....

Wednesday, January 30, 2013

A long blog post: tlr: pitch in if ya want!

1st off, a special "Thanks!" to _Goliard for being so clan-active lately.  "The Clan" needs that.  (When you tell people "I'm in a clan" without a preemptive description that it's an online thing with geeks and video games, you get some odd looks).

_Goliard has been recruiting, reading clan stuff, asking clan questions <-- very awesome.  It brings a fat tear to my fat eye.

Idkhtmac (I don't know how to make a clan).  I mean, I made it.  I spent gold and made a clan.  After that, I kept shufflin' tanks (playing tanks) and recruiting.  FKD's Guide To Making a Clan:

  • Go to "make a clan" webpage.
  • Spend gold to "make a clan."
  • Recruit
  • Recruit
  • Recruit
  • Recruit
  • Infinity+1

Iharlaiaagjly (I have a real life and I am a guy just like you).

My dream/hope/goal was that, "if you build it, they will come" (not cum ... gotta explain this for shing).  I think that's maybe starting to happen.  I see it like a gas cloud in the cosmos, building, sinking into a center via its own gravity, starts forming mass....  You end up with either a Jupiter, with nothing or, like kick-starting a lawn mower or weedeater: a star!

Interjection: I've been in clans where the leader(s) was like, "oh, you made the clan a website.  hrm, you shouldn't have done that. that's what I/we do" <-- and they never do eet, evar, and the clan dies.  So, do eet!!!!!

Idk.  I did a lot of drugs in high school.  My brain ain't right.  It'll be a year this March since I made this clan. Wgaffkmgyfwaw (who gives a fuck fatkiddown?!? my god you fucking whiney ass woman!).

[Arguing with shing in email whilst typing this, where was I?]

Here's some real quotes from people that I've tried to recruit over the some-odd 11 months [mind you, I keep a tally of each name I invite/recruit and _never_ send more than one invite]:

"Get fucked clan wanker!" <-- and when I tried to reply, I was on his ignore list.  Wait, I need to just put the graphics up on some of these:

Then there's the stuff from people who accepted the invite, but left:

"What's this shit on my tank?" [Talking about the clan logo]
"So let's see, you've been a clan almost a year now and have never done clan wars?"

And then, some just leave for w/e reason.  Some leave mad ^ and some leave good -- like, to go to the Sea server when it popped, which was way cool.  These guys sent nice emails thanking me, and apologizing for leaving and stuff.  It was well done....

And some leave, but never really leave.  This is sorta like Sonny and Cher having affairs, but living in the same big house -- with they lovers and all.... I'm talking about perm AFKers.  Boy, we got 'em!

More negative stuff (my god, you're still reading this, but haven't left the clan yet?)

Since March 2012, I have invited (all but 2 recruits I think), 58 total people who accepted (out of a kabillion invites who did not accept).  Of those 58, 18 have left the clan for whatever reason.  That leaves 40.

Of those 40, 12 have been AFK for more than 2 weeks -- some, since forever.

Of the 12 AFKers (not in WoT for more than 2 weeks) the total number of weeks they have been AFK is 143 weeks.

So basically, 58 (who accepted the invite) -18 (people who left) -12 (AFKers) = 28 (active members).  28 people who play at least weekly/end-up in clan channel in game.  We'll stop there for now.

Back to the AFKers:
I gave a figure of "2" starting at 2 weeks since logged on.  But here's the skinny, raw numbers of weeks since last battle:

A nice spreadsheet to show AFK in weeks
Believe it or not, I have, so far, in this post, _NOT_ meant to be negative, or run anyone off.  What I _think_ my intentions are is to show you what's going on with "Teh Clan."  So that, well, you can know, can make a decision, be aware, wtfever.

If nothing else, I guess I hope this'll show you where I'm coming from.  Lemme take this time to say:

It's is entirely acceptable to:

  • Be AFK in Tank Club
  • Be uninvolved in Tank Club....

Fuck it, let's Fight Club it:
The first rule of tank Club is: You do not have to be in Tank club. The second rule of tank Club is: You do not have to be in Tank Club. Third rule of tank Club: someone doesn't do voice chat, clan chat, refuses to platoon w/ clanmates, that's totally cool. Fourth rule: only two guys to a tank. Fifth rule: one clan at a time, fellas. I.e., you can leave this clan and join another. Sixth rule: no shirts, no shoes. Seventh rule: tanks will go on as long as they have to. And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first night at tank Club, you have to tank.

Leavers poached:

Some players are poached.  It is currently happening to boot <-- other clan leaders see our talent and they come after them.  /Queue "When you're in love with a beautiful woman...."  Or "Is someone getting the best! the best! the best! the best! of you?!?!?"

I will not lie here (I haven't lied yet).  Losing a recruit I worked hard to get to another clan is tough, but I get over it.  I also tell myself that there is a silver-lining:

  • It meshes us with other clans to an extent
  • There's a chance we can join with other clans
  • It opens some other door I do not currently understand

Do I wish that guy had stayed with us, in Tank Club?  Certainly.  I want them to go, "well, I'm in Tank Club. I'm gonna grow this current clan and make it just like better! than that clan who's trying to poach me!"

^what poaching may look like

And so as to end this rant which no one is still reading: that's all this is about.  Once again, help out if you want this clan to be more than it currently is.

As some awesome clanmates said last night that I had an awesome time platooning with:

"I saw the posts on the forums [_Goliards recruiting stuff].  Are we gonna start doing clan stuff?"

Mein Gott in Heimel! (<-- that's my made up German).  We have been!  But get on board.  do eet!
