Mac The Tank Companyer!...
I want to thank Mac for putting together a tank company today.
This is good practice for clan wars.
We did have a few pubbers show/fill-in, but at least a dozen TLRers filled the ranks.

-WoT Assistant & tank-tracker.com are still not updating -- going on at least a week now. No word from the devs.
I did get turned on to this site during this outage: http://tanks.ofscience.net/ <-- pretty cool looking, shows top 10 players at home page. The problem is it, too, is suffering from the stats not updating anymore. People have said that WoT Assistant is working fine on Apple products (can feel shing raging)....

Clan Activity
I slapped together a chart delineating the activity level of our clan -- by member, by the last battle they played. I gave "weights" to each by this date. Basically:
Active within past week = 100% active
Active within past 2 weeks = 75% active
Active over 2 weeks ago = 50% active
Active over a month ago = 25% active
Active over 4 months ago = 1% active
This is crud I know but, again, slapped together. It does show, roughly, the last login and battle at least.
I was pleased to see nearly 30 of us -- 75% -- have battled within the past week.
Only 5 of us have not played since before July.
Anyhow, FYI....

I completed 3 goals this weekend and yesterday:
1. Get/elite the GW Type E. Type E is nice: x2 ammo and faster gun by a bit -- noticed the speed I did.
2. Elite the entire German tree. I got the "Technical Engineer" badge, but it will soon go ghost w/ 7.5
3. Get the T95. I want to personally apologize to stiffee and kami for putting them through some 4 or 5 battles in this thing. All losses. I finally got a win by myself afterwards. 6 battles, 1 win, no survives, 17% w/r.... Ugh....

I am basing the ability to field a full team on the actual members in game. I feel this is a more conservative base-line, and smaller % will show when pre-announced matches are, like, announced and stuff. I hope taht made sense....
Do the math: 15% of 100 is 15. We need 15 to do Tank Companies/Clan Wars -- I mean, I do not wish to do either without a full battle roster.
Thoughts:
We all want to do clan wars. This is the blog of forever talking about clan wars and never doing them. I'll keep chugging along, but to me, the first block in this house is membership, ergo, recruiting, so that's what I'm doing.
Enough words. Please send me your thoughts/comments.
Also, please send me your emails if you can at all do so, since it will make communications easier.

Sage advice on TDs & SPGs....
...well, everyone was sage but me that is:

123zorn: the GW Tiger is just mediocre as well, but is more like the 212 in action than any of the other German arty
123zorn: The GWE has faster reload and slight accuracy improvement but not the killer that the 261 or T92 are.
BobLoblaw: the 261 feels like a reskinned hummel
BobLoblaw: damage is meh, AP is overrated
123zorn: the 261 is very accurate, it is a lot like a hummel, but is a lot harder hitting, it is excellent for counter arty ops as it moves fast to get out of the way of returning fire
123zorn: I like the 261, now the T92 splash make it very worthwhile, overall the german line up to the GWP is the most fun (I'm slogging the french now, the 105AM is horrid since HE has been nerfed)
123zorn: the US line is a good one once you get to the bigger gun on the M7, from there its a good run where playability increases as tier increases
BobLoblaw: 261 doesnt hit that hard, low trajectory rarely hits top down
123zorn: the russian line is good to the SU-14 and then on hold until the 261 in terms of increased power. The SU-14 is the sweet spot for russian arty as it does huge damage for its tier

123zorn: cerrtainly for its tier, the 261 is a lightweight for alpha, but its ROF is pretty awesome for its accuracy + damage

Emails & Potato
The WoT messenger service is borked. It is extremely frustrating to try and use. Yes, you can hit that check box at the top of the clan list, and it'll auto-fill all boxes of all members. Then, make sure to uncheck yourself. Compose your message, hit "send." And it says, "nope."
I then go and make sure my messenger service isn't full at the forums.
Rinse/repeat.
Nope....
So, I sent the clan message to 12 of you whose emails I have. I then sent it to 5 others in the messenger service, which does work if I add one-by-one, but after 5, you have to compose an entirely new message.
Do the math:
I have one message/email to send to the clan:
-I send to the 12 whose emails I have.
-I send to 5 more from the messenger service.
-So, 38 - 12 -5 = 21 / 5 means I have to send the message 4.2 more times.
I'm not going to do it.
From now on, I will only send clan messages to the emails I gots.
Please give me an email address. I mean, you can make email addresses like eating potato chips.
It's potato if you think about it.

State of The Clan
We are now at 37 members. That's the most we've had.
I'm hoping to try Tank Companies again soon.
Clan Wars are still out there. I just want to have enough involvement. The last Tank Company night we tried, 3 people showed-up -- that's a platoon.
In my mind, rate of fire -- not alpha strike -- matters. I.e., when we reach a critical mass of enough active members to field a team of 15, _THEN_, we can try, first, Tank Companies and next, Clan Wars.
What does this mean for you? Just keep playing tanks.

I've compared our stats to other clans of relative fame and/or notoriety, and we are pretty solid I feel.
Platooning, and jelling (gelling?) will make us more than just stats which, I feel, are largely based on solo play....

XVM Working With 7.4
I got XVM version 2.4.1 working with 7.4:

I did have to reinstall the Dokan library:

Also, make sure to right click on all the files (dunno if all have to be done but I did) and do "unblock" -- I had to do this on Windows 7.
Here's some 1,2,3 instructions, but I like to open my zips and manually copy the files over myself:

I have not yet tried the mod that shows stats in _that_ individual tank however.

New Clan Logo: after-thoughts....
Just to let you know, I am happy with the new clan logo concept, but
not with all the renders -- you have to upload at least 3 different
sizes of it, and it changes the graphic each time. It looks ok in
some places, meh in others.
I guess I'll redo it some time, but not soon. I'll keep the concept
of the red fist with black outlines. Basically, I just need to go
into each render and polish each pixel....
It was up on the blog for quite a bit before going live, so, I hope
all like it....

New Logo: How to make it work
The new logo works. Although others will see it fine, it will not show on your game client until you do the following:
1. Close WoT.
2. Go to: C:\Users\your username\AppData\Roaming\wargaming.net\WorldOfTanks\custom_data
3. Delete all files.
Now, relaunch the game. This fixed it for me.

New Clan Logo(s)
Check out the new logos. These are transparent, so, hopefully, no more borders when icon is on the tank.
This is just an idea. I might throw more up. We can decide, as a clan, what is best.

Great Recruiting!
We gained 2 new recruits this week with absolutely no effort on my part. I want to thank redpanther and HeavysSandwich for recruiting Busy_Bacon and edmar61, respectively.
This is nice... very nice.
My recruiting has screeched to a halt for about a week now.
Rambling on (/queue Led Zeppelin), the clan feels nice. I know, cuz I put my thing in it. I mean, there's a core always platooning and stuff. And that's good.
We had 2, bi-weekly clan meets. I have not scheduled or promoted the 3rd. It is on hold indefinitely. Diablo 3 and other stuff knocked the knees out of the 2nd meet, with only about 3 making it -- that's a platoon. Since we platoon lotsa nights, I figure, why schedule it.
We'll pick up meets again once interest picks up and/or, new recruits show incentive.
But there's more to come guys.

Growers & Showers
Some were recruited based on top-tiered vehicels: Maus, E-100, IS-7, T110E5, etc. I call these, "showers," cuz you have the tiers to "show" in the game, and I mean, when you can, say, pull out a big huge Maus, and roll it up on they in battle, then, that, is the quintessential definition of "showing." You indeed, "show" your big, huge, tank. Whether it is parked in the garage, or rolling into battle, it's fully shown, fully big, fully tier 10.
Some of you were recruited without a big, huge, "show" tier 10 tank. I just want you to know that, too, are a "shower." Why? Cuz you had the skills, the stats. Yes, I examined your service record, I ran your stats at wot-news.com or tank-tracker.com, I compared your stats. I compared them just like I did the "showers" in the clan.
I said, "this guy has big skills too and one day, they will indeed be seen in a big, tier 10, tank. He will one day, "grow" into a tier 10, and have those same, elite skills as he does right now in the smaller tiered tank.
So, just know, that whether you show or grow, you are all big to me, and I appreciate the size of your skills.

Take it! It's yours!
I've done not much really at all. I filled-out some fields on a form at a website, clicked some buttons, and made a clan. Next, I invited you to join. You joined. Here we are....
I'm posting this now to tell you that, by and large, this clan will become what you make of it. You'll find me eager to delegate, happy to hand-over authority and wanting to see others get involved.
Want Clan Wars? Go make it happen. Want a better Clan graphic/icon? Make one. Want this, that, and the other thing? Do it.
But, time to repeat our mantra:
Zero pressure
No assholes
If all you want to do is play tanks, have at it. There are some I've not spoken to in over a month or more. They are in the clan, but just playing tanks. They show up in clan channel, and that's it -- never a peep. And that's just fine. This is how this clan is, and it will stay that way.
For the rest of you, to quote Kid Rock: "you get what you put in...."
Or, as Achilles said to the Myrmidons before storming the beach in the movie, "Troy":
Myrmidons! My brothers of the sword! I would rather fight beside you than any army of thousands! Let no man forget how menacing we are, we are lions! Do you know what's waiting beyond that beach? Immortality! Take it! It's yours!
Man, I love that! I'm Achilles!!!

Platooning
I had a killer time platooning with clansmen tonight: brodix and speedsterhk. I've also had great times in recent days with Yamserov, CameleonSPY and others. Good times!
